Netflix And Chill? No Tax

Everybody likes to sit back and watch Netflix and chill…but are the company Netflix getting a bit too chilled out about their tax situation.

It has just come to our attention that Netflix made a profit of $845 million dollars in the USA last year, but they paid no tax at all.

That’s right! Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Is exactly how much cash they paid to the tax man or woman.

As you can expect, there is outrage about the situation in the USA, where hard working people are wondering why they have to pay tax but Netflix don’t.

Maybe they should just chill, like Netflix? Only the IRS wouldn’t allow that, and they would quickly be hauled off to county jail.

So why are Netflix so chilled about their tax situation? Apparently it has a lot to do with tax credits, which they are cleverly working in their favour to pay no tax at all.

No doubt they have some very clever accountants working for them around the clock to pull this off, but if anybody can pull something like that off, then it is a good accountant.

Just like our very own contractor accountants. They can pull off just about anything (within UK law) and if you hire them to work for you then you could pay significantly less tax than you are paying right now.

The only way to find out is to give them a call and see what they can do for you. Look at our recommended contractor accountants on the right hand side of the page and choose one to contact.

Back to Netflix and they are not chilling out all around the world, because according to reports they did pay $131 million in foreign taxes.

Does that mean that – SHOCK – they paid tax right here in the UK? I don’t believe it!

As you may be aware, the UK is known as the land where American companies come to pay no tax, so it would make you wonder why Netflix wouldn’t be so chilled with the UK tax man or woman.

It might have something to do with the fact that Netflix have not found a decent accountant in the UK, yet. Once they do though, then you can expect them to follow in the footsteps of Amazon, Google, Apple, Microsoft, and all of those other American companies who laugh at us on a yearly basis at tax return time.

In my opinion something needs to be done about all of the Billion Dollar companies who avoid their tax responsibilities, but I’ve been saying that for a few years now and we are still no closer to action being taken. Something tells me action won’t ever be taken.
